Biografie

Ich wurde in Erlangen geboren und aufgezogen, meine zwei älteren Brüder und ich hatten die besten Eltern und die schönste Kindheit die man sich nur wünschen kann. Schon seit ich mich erinnern kann hatte ich großes Interesse an Musik. Bereits in der
Grundschule lernte ich Flöte spielen, so wie die meisten anderen Kinder. Ich jedoch blieb dabei, spielte von der Altflöte bis zur Piccolo, alles vom Folksong bis Klassik ohne Unterschied. Es hat jedoch nicht lange gedauert, bis ich merkte, dass man mit der Flöte im Mund nur sehr schlecht singen kann. Ich war wohl dann ungefähr 12 Jahre alt als meine Mutter sich meiner erbarmte und mir meine erste wundervolle Konzertgitarre kaufte. Natürlich wollte ich ja eigentlich lieber ein Klavier haben, aber mit „ viel zu teuer, und das schlepp ich nicht die Treppen rauf „ hat mein Vater dazu ein Machtwort gesprochen.
Also musste eine Gitarre her, zumal mein Bruder Stefan auch schon das Spielen angefangen und mir schon einiges Voraus hatte. Schnell habe ich ihn eingeholt und schon bald verbrachten wir unsere Freizeit damit zusammen zu spielen .
( Das Adler Duo ist noch heute bei den Partys unserer Freunde gefürchtet ! )
Zwischenzeitlich hatte ich in der Schule lauter Einser in Musik, übernahm die Hauptstimme im Schulchor und im Alter von 15 Jahren besorgte ich mir meine erste 12saitige Westerngitarre und wurde Frontfrau der Schulband. Meine eigentliche musikalische Laufbahn begann ungefähr zu dieser Zeit, und war einzig und allein die Schuld meines Bruders ! Er hat seine kleine Schwester regelmäßig mit ins Irish Pub geschleppt, und dort verliebte ich mich unsterblich in die irische Musik
und die irische Mentalität.
Unser guter Freund Paul Daly, einer der wohl begnadetsten Sänger die ich je getroffen habe, hat mich überredet zum ersten Mal auf die Bühne zu gehen und zu singen, und so begann mein Weg im Jahr 1984.
Bereits Anfang 1985 spielte ich feste Gigs im Strohalm und Murphy´s Law.
Im November des gleichen Jahres zog es mich nach USA, und meine musikalische Laufbahn wurde für mehr als zwei Jahre jäh unterbrochen.
1988 war ich zurück in Erlangen, bekam meinen süßen Sohn Joey, und war die nächste Zeit damit beschäftigt Geld zu verdienen und mich um mein Kind zu kümmern.
Es müsste 1990 gewesen sein als ich endlich wieder zurück auf die Bühne fand und in Kürzester Zeit war ich wieder im Geschäft und genoß es ausgiebig. In den folgenden Jahren hatte ich Auftritte in vielen Teilen Deutschlands und formte auch ein Duo mit Armin Rase, was die Auftritte um Hochzeiten und alle möglichen Veranstaltungen erweiterte. Ich hatte die große Ehre mit vielen brillianten Musikern ( einige davon in der Link Liste zu finden )auf der Bühne stehen zu dürfen , und ich bin sehr stolz diese zu meinen Freunden zu zählen.
Auch jetzt noch trete ich manchmal mit Armin als Duo auf, meistens jedoch findet ihr mich allein auf der Bühne mit einer meiner Gitarren. Immer noch gehört meine große Liebe den irischen Folksongs, aber ich fühle mich auch den 60er Jahren sehr zugetan und für das jüngere Publikum habe ich viele bekannte moderne Songs der letzten Jahre zu meinem Repertoire hinzugefügt.

Biography

I was born and raised in Erlangen. My two elder brothers and me were brought up by the best parents that anybody could ever want. From my earliest memories on I was always interested in music. In school I started playing the flute, like everybody else. But I kept at it, playing folksongs and classic alike, but it didn´t take too long before I figured out its pretty hard to sing with a flute between your lips. So I was maybe twelve when mom bought me my first concert guitar and it was beautiful.
Of course I had always wanted to play the piano, but “ that´s way too expensive and I´m not carrying a piano up those steps ! “ were my fathers words.
So a guitar it was, and by then my middle brother Steven had also started playing and was already way ahead of me. It didn´t take me long to catch up , and pretty soon we were both having the grandest time playing together. ( The Adler Duo is still feared at most of our friend parties !)
In the meantime I had A grades in music, took the lead voice in the school choir, and at the age of 15 I bought my first 12-string guitar and was the front woman in the school band.
My actual musical career started around that time and was solely my brothers fault . He used to take his little sister to the Irish Pub all the time, and it was there that I totally fell in love with Irish music and the Irish mentality. It was our good friend Paul Daly, who is one of the most gifted singers I´ve ever met, who talked me into going up on stage to perform a song for the first time, and so started me on my way.
This was in 1984, I was already doing regular gigs at the Strohalm and at Murphy´s Law early in 1985.
In November of the same year I left Germany for the U.S. of America and my career was put on hold for more than two years.
I came back to Erlangen in 1988, gave birth to my lovely son Joey and was busy for a couple of years trying to make a living and bringing up my boy.
It was in 1990 I believe when I started playing again and within a short time I was back to my old self and enjoying it immensly. In the following years I had gigs in various parts of Germany and formed a duo with Armin Rase, playing also at weddings and all kinds of parties. I had the pleasure to perform with many brilliant musicians over the years ( some of which can be found in the link list ), and am very proud to be counting them among my friends.
Up till now I still do gigs together with Armin sometimes, but most likely you´ll find me on stage all by myself with one of my guitars. I do still love to play Irish Songs, but also indulge in playing songs from the 60ties and for the younger listeners I have added many wellknown songs from the last few years to my repertoire.
